  • Hello, good morning, Nice to meet you, thank you for being available for a skype interview.

Good morning, thank you for giving me the opportunity for an interview.

  • I would like to ask you a few questions. First of all, please introduce yourself.

My name is Jason Choi. I came from Hong Kong and have recently graduated from KGV School in Hong Kong, studying BTEC Business and Media. I’ve enjoyed my BTEC media course, and that has inspired me to work in the media industry after studying as I have to think of my future after studying. I am keen to work for you because I want to have the experience to work in the media industry in hopes that in the future, I can become a cinematographer.

  • So you are applying to become a videographer. Please tell me, what strengths and weaknesses can you identify about yourself?

I think what I consider to be a personal strength is dedication. I feel like I have a really strong work attitude and can get any task assigned done. I can manage my time effectively and try to maximise the time I spend on a task. However, I think what I consider to be a personal weakness is confidence. I understand how confidence is important in this job, but I can be a pessimist myself, so I usually doubt my work not being up to standard. I am trying my very best to be positive and more confident in my work. I keep thinking that if I’m not confident with my work, it motivates me to work harder to exceed the standard.

  • Thank you, why do you want this job and what makes you stand out amongst the other candidates we had?

I really wanted to work for you and I believe an ideal candidate for the job. How I can demonstrate that I stand out to the other candidates is that I can multitask and I have experience with the Adobe programmes and handing the camera. I have spent two weeks on a work experience where I learned from my tenure, the different types of equipment provided. Such as a DSLR camera, recorder, LED lights, gimbal, and the different lens in a DSLR camera. From this experience, I know they are important for this job and helps me in the future to become a cinematographer.

  • Ok, our job requires to create videos, what experience do you have working with the media equipment and creating videos?

I am deeply passionate about creating videos, and during my travels, I create video vlogs to log my travelling experience. On my travels, I work with a GoPro and a DSLR camera, Canon 80D. Using the footages I’ve taken from my travels, I put them together and edit them out to a professional standard using adobe premiere pro. Through this, it has allowed me to have experience with using premiere pro. I have also worked with other Adobe programs like Photoshop and Illustrator, where I use them in other work such as pre-production, and making my work as aesthetically pleasing as possible.

  • In our company, it is important that everyone meets their deadlines. May I ask, how would you manage your deadlines and what challenges have you faced meeting deadlines?

When I face challenging deadlines, I always try to manage them and make sure that I complete any task given by the deadline. I try to manage them through prioritising deadlines; I make sure that I order the work I have and work on the ones that are more urgent than others. Through this, I can make sure that I complete any task on time, and it can help me reduce stress.

  • When you looked at our job advert, what has drawn you into thinking that you want to work for us?

I think what has drawn me into wanting to apply for a videographer position in your company was the job responsibility and requirements. I feel as if I have met your requirement to become a videographer, and the job responsibilities involved is very practical and allows me to gain a wide range of experience. Although I still have a lot to learn, this job will enable me to learn and gain experience. As there are many job responsibilities involved, although I understand the potential challenges I could face, it allows me to work productively.

  • Part of the job involves working through the production stage. What would you think is the most important aspect of a pre-production stage?

Arguably, I honestly think that every aspect of pre-production is important because, without it, you can’t work to create a cohesive, successful product. Having pre-production is like having a plan; the better the production, the more successful the outcome becomes. But, I think the most important aspect of pre-production is storyboard because they give a visual image of how will the product turn out and can help plan for a successful video.

  • Thank you for coming to this interview. We hope to look forward in considering your application.
